Both the developers and community for Transport Fever 2 are into a sandbox simulation rather than gameplay. What I've gathered is that while I love watching content about this game, playing it isn't gonna be my thing. Having arbitrary restrictions in a map isn't the same as building game levels around these restrictions in using the mechanics of the game. If I'm ranked below the average, then there's something I can do to improve, and it might be fun to self-challenge myself at that point to figure out what others did to get their higher scores. I don't care about score so much, but it would be super cool to see how I did relative to others. We could achieve these sorts of scenarios by sharing around save files, but it's not the same since the game won't say "you failed" or compare my scores to others (either money made or time spent). These are artificial limiters but sound like real-life problems civil engineers solve everyday. From what I saw of the first 6 campaign levels on YouTube, it's more of a tutorial rather than Zachtronics-style challenges. There are a lot of neat things you can do in Transport Fever 2, but I'm seeing a lot of lost potential with this being more of a simulation rather than a game. ^^ Stuff like that sounds really interesting. Build an express line from A to B using the existing cargo tracks. You notice city A and B have a lot of passengers, but all city connections are point-to-point cargo trains. Figure out how to make the line profitable in 3 years time."ģ. You've bought the company, but found out, because of city building limitations, you can't destroy any buildings around them preventing the addition of more tracks. Someone built these tracks years ago and the company went under. Figure out how to make $2mil profit per month given this map.Ģ. Is there anything in the game which supports someone setting up a puzzle?ġ.
